  1. It's pretty 4 Star Review

It is pretty thick, and tricky to get the perfect result. But it could be a lot worse, and it does look good on. I put pro fx too coat on it, it lasts a bit longer with that

    MOST amazing colour

  3. Pretty Colour but Tends to Crack 3 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Jun 2016

I've used a lot of nail polish in my days, and I was really excited to get this one. I put it on about two days ago, but within a day, it was cracking. Also, after I put another coat on yesterday, I went swimming, and got out of the pool with barely any polish on my nails. It's a very pretty colour, but there's not much you can do without it cracking or peeling off.

  4. Starry Starry Night 2.0 2 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Jan 2016

I'm disappointed in the new "Retro Revival" version of Starry Starry Night. The new formula is very thick & hard to work with. Plus, when comparing the original version to the new one there are noticeable differences. The new formulas is very, very thick, has a different type & amount of glitter.
It's unfortunate Essie was unable to duplicate the original highly sought after version of this polish.
Ultimately I feel the new version as should be marketed as Starry Starry Night 2.0.

  5. It's ok... 3 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Jan 2016

As other reviews have said, the formula is very thick. I would definitely recommend thinning it out, as I will do the next time I wear it, otherwise it feels very heavy/thick on the nail (even with just two coats) and is prone to premature chipping. There is a lot of hype about this shade and while I don't own the original (and I'm aware this new one is a little different), I was a little underwhelmed. It's a pretty dark sapphire blue with tiny silver glitter and was probably amazing at the time of its release, but I have several better inky blue polishes that give you a similar dark night sky effect (eg. I would wear Picture Polish Cosmos over this one any day). I think Starry Starry Night is a pretty polish and it's fun to have something associated with so much nostalgia in your stash, but it didn't totally wow me. Maybe I'll appreciate it more after I thin down the formula. As far as removal, you don't need the foil method or anything, but you need to scrub a little more than you would with regular polish. Glitter migration onto fingers during removal wasn't a major issue.

  6. Goopy and Thick 3 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Jan 2016

So disappointed with the formula, it was so thick and goopy it made it tricky to apply. I will most likely add some thinner before wearing again.
It is a beautiful colour, but I wish Essie had re-released the original formula as it is quite different.

  7. Attractive but tricky 3 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Jan 2016

I bought Starry Starry Night after seeing an acquaintance wearing the shade. The results are very pretty, but this polish is so thick that it's hard to apply evenly. Despite using a basecoat, the polish chipped after a few days and stained my nails with dark blue residue. At least it was easy to remove... It's a pity this shade wasn't formulated better, because it really looks lovely while it's on.

  8. Pretty polish 4 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Dec 2015

The new SSN is a lovely nail polish. Like the old one, It's a blue jelly with silver sparkles, which is opaque in two coats that dry quite fast. The application is a bit difficult though, you have to load the brush and have a very steady hand, and move quickly because the first coat dries very fast - or at least that's what happened to me - I applied it over Essie Fill the Gap. I struggled a bit with the brush, too, when working around the cuticles, but in the end the polish self-levelled and was very glossy. I am now only wondering is I will be getting sparkles everywhere upon removal, but that remains to be seen. All in all, a pretty polish, if you can get it for the retail price - in my opinion, it's not really worth it to pay 50 dollars for it on ebay.
