When I saw swatches, I was excited to get this polish. Unfortunately, it's very underwhelming: just a matte black, with no blue sparkle obvious. It dries quickly, which makes it harder to apply but also makes it a great base for nail art since you can move on quickly to the next step. I've been using it on my toes, no top coat, and haven't had any issues with wear.
Not a polish I would purchase again, but since I have it, it's been a good base colour for stamping on to. 123
I am such an Essie lover and when I saw swatches of this colour online I jumped at getting this polish. Unfortunately I have to agree with the other reviewer. It chipped so easily (less than 24 hours later). I also loved how the swatches make this colour look black with a flash of blue sparkle - I really didn't feel like that translated in person. In most lighting there's no blue at all, so it just looks like a flat black. I was very underwhelmed. Ended up returning the polish. I own Essie's Matte About You topcoat and feel like I'd get very similar results by applying that over Essie Midnight Cami. 123
The Essie website suggested that this would look best without a top coat so I went without. The formula was very difficult to work with - it was hard to keep it from looking streaky and required 4 coats to get an even finish. It dried very fast, a little more blue and sparkly than the pictures looked. I tried two nails under a top coat and didn't like the look.
Unfortunately this colour chipped on nails with and without top coat the same day it was applied and was very hard to get off. Disappointing since I was very excited. 123
