I really, really wanted to love this base coat. I do think their top coat is awesome but after trying this one on/off for months, I think I'm about to give up on it. With many of my polishes I get quite a lot of chipping by day two and worst of all, my polish just peels off in sheets as though it's a peel-able base coat - by day two or three. It's happened with numerous brands of polish so there is a definite pattern. Maybe it's just that my body chemistry is a mismatch but this weekend I was washing lettuce for a salad at a friend's house when she said "uh oh, your nail fell off!" Sure enough there was my entire 'polish-nail' in one single piece laying at the bottom of the sink. Embarrassing. And this was only my second day with this (high end level brand) of holo polish. Stubbornly I tried it one last time with a different brand of polish yesterday and yep, today I'm sitting here randomly missing two nail's worth of polish and I know the other nails would peel right off as well if I nudge them wrong. It just doesn't work for me, so I'm going to give up and go back to my Butter London basecoat. It's a shame because this brand goes on nicely, seems to prevent staining and the price is great, but I can't handle something this chippable and peelable when I use such expensive brands of polish. :( 123
Thought I'd give this a try as the review was great. Used with OPI, Scotch, Dior and did use the matching top coat. Chipping within a day.
Not sure what the problem is for sure but the base coat did keep my nails from staining so I gave it four stars. Will try with my regular top coat. 123
I love the top coat so I decided to try the base coat after my other brands of base coat ran out (I've used OPI, Zoya and SpaRitual in the past). This is a great base coat - easy to apply, thin and haven't had any issue with chipping or peeling or staining. It's a great one to use with holo polishes as well - no bald spots and nice smooth application. I would definitely buy it again! 123
